Club Information

Somerset County Amateur Radio Club’s (SCARC) mission is to promote and educate people about the hobby of Amateur Radio. The club created and adopted its bylaws on 06 Feb 1962 and was incorporated in 1964. In 2005 the club became a 501(c)(3) organization. Dedicated to educational, scientific, and charitable purposes.

The club is a general interest Amateur Radio club. Our members’ interests vary and, as a club, we’re not focused on any single facet of our hobby. Our social meetings usually have a presentation or guest lecture on a whole range of topics. Anyone interested in Amateur Radio is encouraged to visit our club during any of our meetings. We invite you to come to visit and check out our club.

The club provides a public service by working in conjunction with the Somerset County Emergency Management Office as an auxiliary communications team. Some of our members are part of the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES). RACES protocol is used by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Federal Communications Commission (FCC Part 97, Section 407). Many government agencies across the country train their Auxiliary Communications Service (ACS) volunteers using the RACES protocol. Additional information about RACES can be found on their Website.
