Amateur Radio License Testing
The Somerset County Amateur Radio Club (SCARC) is proud to offer ARRL‑accredited Amateur Radio license exams throughout the year. Whether you’re brand‑new to the hobby or working toward an upgrade, our Volunteer Examiners are here to help you succeed.
We host at least four test sessions annually, giving applicants multiple opportunities to earn or upgrade their FCC Amateur Radio license.
Exam Registration (Now using Exam Tools)
All applicants must register for their exam session through ExamTools, the ARRL‑supported online exam management system.
To register:
- Visit https://examtools.org
- Create an account (or log in if you already have one).
- Search for locate, select chose, use 15501 for zip code, select Somerset PA or Somerset County Amateur Radio Club exam sessions.
- Select your desired test date and complete the pre‑registration form.
- You will receive a confirmation email with instructions for exam day.
Using ExamTools speeds up check‑in, ensures accurate records, and allows us to process your results more efficiently.
What to Expect on Exam Day
- Arrive a few minutes early to complete paperwork.
- Bring a valid photo ID.
- Bring your FRN and any required documentation.
- Calculators are allowed, but no programmable memory may be used.
- Results are typically available shortly after the exam is completed.
